The Flagler Talk Continues… Social Security

For those who read my enlightened post yesterday, the speaker also spoke on Social Security.  It will be defunct by 2030 if we continue, however if we raise the age limit by one year we are good for another 75 years.  And if after those 75 years we raise the age limit by another year we are good for another 75 years.  We simply have to get through this baby boom generation.   It seems pretty simple.

Cable Television..

If you have ever read any of my posts you know I am a computer nincompoop.  I still don’t know how to answer the Android phone.  Also, if I am able to figure it out I live in a drop zone so to have a conversation you have to stand in the back yard.  This is challenging if it rains.  Thank God we don’t have snow in Florida.

After living here 2 years I decided to take the leap and purchase cable television.  While this goes against my grain since I grew up on free tv I took the leap.   Besides the exorbitant price and we still have one third of the program as commercials.  Why?  I digress.. let me get back on point.

Last night I spent 3 hours with several lovely folks from someplace in Asia trying to restore my television service.  How they work with us Ugly Americans I’ll never know.  The first 2 couldn’t help but were charming and even suggested a technician visit me for 70 bucks.  I called again getting the roto technician who hung up on me. The roto said I called too soon however it’s now 1 am and I’ve missed Madame Secretary.  I am irate but on the third try I found a knowledgeable technician and all was well in 5 minutes.

Does everyone have these difficulties or is it me?   Someone needs to do a sit com on us seniors and our computer gaffes.   I’ll put it on the list of things to do.

Jerimandering…

You know I don’t even know if this is spelled right or fully understand the concept.  Probably most Americans don’t either.  It has something to do with rigging the votes so those with the most influence get their way.  Gee, I thought our country wasn’t born and made to be that way.

I just googled this and I’ve spelled it wrong.  Here’s the definition.

ger·ry·man·der

Dictionary result for gerrymander

State of Ununion

Last night I didn’t watch the “address.”   I feel un-American in doing this but frankly I am tired of looking at this man.  He is ubiquitous and I’d like a younger, softer, more intelligent version to watch and have as the leader of the World.   Frankly, I’m scared of the lies and the way we are going.  I think most Americans are.

Instead I went to an equally uplifting talk on our  national debt.  We are 23 trillion in debt and our debt was increased in 2018 by 55%.  Since the talk was given at Flagler College I felt for the up and coming generations of college students sitting amongst us gray haired.  Frankly, I was embarassed what we are leaving to the future generations.

There are grass roots campaigns out there to do something about this situation however neither party has a plan.  It seems like other issues overshadow.  The answer would lie in our deductions and eliminating them.   The speaker said 78% of the American people say we need to increase taxes.  This was enlightening.  I am all for that and cleaning up the debt.  Are you?
