Angela Merkel began her life as daughter to a Lutheran minister father growing up in East Germany. In college she studied quantum chemistry obtaining a doctorate in this area. She left her job as a researcher when a new political group was forming. With her scientific training as background, she successfully used these skills to rise in this new formed party, The Christian Democratic Union of Germany.
By 2005 she was elected to Chancellor of Germany. Currently her skills and background as a scientist are assisting Germans as they handle the Corona Virus with the lowest number of cases and deaths in Europe.
During a visit with Vladimir Putin he brought his Labrador Retriever into the room knowing the Chancellor’s fear of dogs. Later she stated,
“I understand why he has to do this — to prove he’s a man. … He’s afraid of his own weakness.”
