Dr. Jill Biden

Jill Biden is the wife of the 2020 Democratic Presidential candidate, Joe Biden. She is an American educator with a long history of teaching English, reading, and writing at the high school and college level. Born in New Jersey, she grew up in Pennsylvania, marrying Joe Biden 5 years after he tragically lost his wife and child in a car accident. She became stepmother to his sons Hunter, and the late Beau Biden. Together they had a daughter Ashley in 1981.

She has many degrees in education with her PhD from the University of Delaware. Her dissertation concerned student retention in community college.

As Second Lady during the Obama administration Jill worked with the First Lady on issues related to military families. On the home front of Delaware Mrs. Biden has two initiatives:

  • Book Binders which provides books for low income children in Delaware, and
  • Biden Breast Health Initiative which educates Delaware women on breast health awareness.

Jill continued to teach during her tenure as Second Lady, however has taken a leave of absence from her current professorship to assist with the campaign.

Greta Thunberg

At 11 years of age while in primary school Greta’s teacher showed a climate change video. In this video starving polar bears were seen as well as extreme weather changes. Unable to shake these images Greta studied more of this issue eventually writing a newspaper article which led her to protest outside the Swedish Parliament.

Her one woman protest grew daily leading to student led climate change groups with her September 20, 2019 global climate strike attracting 4 million people world wide. This was the largest climate change demonstration in history.

In 2019 she was named the Time Person of the Year and has spoken with the Pope and heads of state regarding climate change. This unlikely teenager has received the world’s attention as her movement continues to grow. Currently, she is 17 years old.

In her address to CEO’s and world leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, she stated,

“I want you to feel the fear I feel every day. And then I want you to act.”

A Protestor at the Climate Change Rally

The Lincoln Project

Begun by Kelleyanne Conway’s husband and others, this group of Republicans are working to change who are next president will be. Their commercials clearly outline how lack of leadership has affected US.

Google them, watch their commercials, then make your decision.

Norah O’Donnell

This American television journalist is an Aquarius. Females falling under this sign are glamorous and have perspective with a hint of rebellion. As Norah anchors the CBS Evening News she radiates these characteristics. Brought on in 2019 to raise CBS ratings from the #3 spot, she has succeeded. Interviewing scientists and physicians knowledgeable of the Pandemic during her nightly news broadcast has made America turn on to this trusted female journalist.

Born in Washington D.C., to a military family, she was educated at Georgetown University. She is married to a restaurant owner and chef, Geoff Tracy. They have 3 children.

An old school journalist whose role model is Walter Cronkite, Nora reads 6 newspapers daily. She doesn’t give opinions or share anecdotes on Twitter. While in 2019 50% of America got their news from social media Norah states,

“Social media is driven by an algorithm. It learns what you like and feeds it back to you. It reinforces our political beliefs, CBS Evening News is not driven by an algorithm.”

Something to think about. Thanks, Norah.

White Indifference: Enough

Had lunch with a woman I had met briefly 6 months ago. During the lunch she mentioned how the protests were noisy and enough. She lamented how George Floyd’s funeral interfered with her soap opera. I left sickened wondering if any change will occur from all that has transpired and with a better understanding of white indifference.

One lunch was enough.

Jacksonville: Are You Nuts?

Listening to the Mayor give “news” about the Republican National Convention in August the question is repeated.

Are you nuts?

The potential cost of a second wave outbreak far outweighs any profit made. As he stated Jacksonville will be showcased to the world, but as what?

This is not about politics, this is about safety.

No Brainer: Mail in Voting

Things to consider:

  • 70% of Americans want to vote by mail*
  • Poll workers are older, corona vulnerable, therefore no staff
  • Folks in Georgia waited up to 5 hours in line to vote this week
  • Voter fraud concerns: Oregon 2016 found 54 in >2 million votes*

If congress doesn’t want to pass the voting act to pay for voting this way could American pay themselves with a $10 a year fee on our federal form?**

Seems fair.

Voter Suppression

I’ve been wondering why there have been few presidential commercials. Well, the cat is out of the bag. The republicans have funneled monies to hire 50,000 people on election day in swing states to “monitor” voting areas. Intimidation tactics to keep people from voting.

Any ideas who they will intimidate?

It won’t be me, don’t let it be you.
