Let the fun begin! This weekend as I cheer Joe on he’s beginning his ad campaign in battleground states!
My $11. a month is being put to good use.
These 60 second commercial airings will be during 60 Minutes, and will outlines the key advancements of his presidency showing Joe in action and doing what he does best, govern.
Aren’t you sick and tired of the republicans?? That’s all they do is tear down the DEMOCRATS, don’t have any ideas yet try their damnedest to stay in power, and succeed – or will they??
Case in Point — Janet Protasiewicz – the newest Supreme Court Justice in Wisconsin. They are trying to impeach this gal before she’s even begun. She’s for women’s rights, voting rights, and all that good stuff. However, these old white republicans are afraid of loosing power, and what her vote could do. And what would that be???..
THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE
So, go Janet with the onerous last name. I spent $50 writing post cards to your constituents to get you in, please don’t let my actions be in vain.
Welcome to my new blog emphasis – politics.. and if you don’t like it, block the site, you won’t be missed, but, will miss a lot.
Yes, I am one of the 39% who believe in Joe Biden, know he’ll have a 2nd term with much success, and I am looking forward to it. And for all those naysayers about his age, forget that, as he has genetics on his side, strong family ties, a young wife, he eats right, and uses the Peloton daily, so what is the alarm over his age? Quite frankly I tire of those 20 year old pundits talking about his age, look at his wisdom and all he’s done at 80! And he’s still going strong, and as he says, “WATCH ME.”
Yesterday I read an article which said the former criminal prez did more than Joe! The only thing he did was to change the tax laws to accommodate his wealthy friends, and double our national deficit. And for those Iowa farmers who got the checks during those insane trade wars, you are now paying it back with interest by donating to his campaign, or is it his legal fund, hmmmm… Have to scratch my head on that one, but we all know the answer to that one.
So hop on the band wagon, and become a Joe Biden Cheerleader.
It’s Joe’s time!
Let’s raise those approval ratings.
He knows what he’s doing, and better yet, he’s doing it.
After the Pom meet decided to walk through Central Park. It was a balmy 85 degrees and after 2 weeks of 100-110 in Saint Augustine this was a welcome relief. Between the heat and the politics of ron desantis florida is no place to live. It is terrifying. I probably shouldn’t write this as my taxes will go up or he’ll have me silenced. I fear for the teachers, they backed Charlie Crist and now rd is getting even. Poor Mickey Mouse. Come to florida to visit as tourism is down 10% and our home owners insurance up 100%, but it is more important to ban books and be anti-woke whatever the hell that means….
By the time rd’s term is done tourism will be down 50%. and florida lost a billion when Mickey decided to stay in California. And did I mention the 20 million Floridians are paying for all rd’s legal cases – like the Martha Vineyard’s immigration escapade, Mickey Mouse.. I could go on and on but it doesn’t matter all those big box Christian Churches in florida are having a field day milking their congregations for money as they brainwash them. And in the meantime Newsome is taking a victory lap… Go Gavin!
I digress..
Found new places in Central Park to visit. How beautiful and even though Rocco managed to find a way to jump in the pond his drowning was averted and I’m sure he was much cooler.
What a beautiful part of the Park which I had never seen. Believe this area is dedicated to Frederick Law Olmsted who designed Central Park and known as the “Father of Landscape Architecture.” In 1858, he won a competition to design the 843 acre site and to this day it stands as a triumph for the residents of New York to enjoy.
While at the Park check out this beautiful enclosure. Simply lovely.
And we’ll end with some history and a few more photos of the Park on this glorious day..
Today we had the option of a Pom Meet or visiting the FDR Mansion in Hyde Park, and sorry Franklin you lost. My daughter and now official son-in-law Greg have had Rocco, the Pomeranian, who thinks he is a German Shepard for 15 months now. Rocco, has been a bit of a trial, but a love despite his many escapades.
In his first week of arrival he fell from his carrier and broke all 4 paw bones of his foot. My hysterical daughter called and I thought her best friend died. After 6 weeks Rocco was all cured and my daughter 10 grand poorer.
July 2022 – While my daughter sat on the couch Rocco heard a dog outside. He ran to the porch of their 3rd floor flat, and jumped over the chicken wire covered fencing and landed in a patch of grass, no injuries this time. However, the Russian woman who saw the flight will never be the same. Thus his code name – Flying Rocco..
In December as we were to leave for Newport, RI, silly me left my suitcase open on the floor. Rocco broke into my vitamin bags and consumed several vitamin bags which included tumeric. In checking the internet vitamin information a decision was made he would be okay however for the next week he had colorful poo and doubt if he’ll ever have arthritis with that mega dose..
Rocco has been quiet lately, however, his latest feat was ring bearer for his parent’s wedding of which he executed grace and agility, but on a leash.
The tail end of Rocco socializing before arrival at the altar. At least he didn’t pee on anyone..
Job well done – rings delivered.
So now that you’ve met Rocco, enter the Pom Meet…. It was a quiet day in Central Park till Rocco arrived. All the Poms were being held, cuddled, and nurtured until his arrival. Henceforth, with the Rocco arrival all that changed with much lively barking, ball throwing, and attempts made to steal crackers from the classy Manhattan lady with 3 Poms from Europe who has them groomed every 6 weeks. ?Can you imagine what that costs?? Then triple that number as this is Manhattan.. I digress.
Met folks on the subway who were going to the Pom Meet Up..
This white Pom was from Korea.
We even had a famous, (or infamous), Pom owner at the event. Bridgett Everett, who is a comedian, and friend of Jerry Seinfeld in attendance in yellow shoes. My daughter wouldn’t allow me to talk to her – wise advice as I have a foot in mouth disease..
I also liked Bridgett’s carrier. So many great ones with one gal having something attached to her motorcycle which was the best. Sorry can’t find that picture but you can imagine…. Pom-love.
The Brooklyn Public Library has an awesome exhibit of their favorite Brooklyn son, Jay Z, or Shawn Carter, running through October 2023. The exhibit captures the Man from his music focused roots to the current time as a major in the business world. All library cards issued during this time period will have a Jay Z picture on them. In the weeks since the exhibit began this has created a 14000 increase in requests for library cards.
The Brooklyn Public Library covered in the lyrics of Jay Z.
Here are some pics from the exhibit.
I could say more but believe the Brooklyn Public Library said it best..
In light of the book banning throughout our country by crazed folk, want to end this piece with words from the Brooklyn Public Library.
Thank you, Brooklyn Public Library for honoring Jay Z., and Democracy.
So after all the hype with Jon my daughter had begun to plan the next weekend. This made for a fun mother – daughter day as I observed what I have heard of in phone conversations.
Our first destination was the print shop where a 30 by 5 foot banner was made. How interesting..
Then on to Coney Island for me as Jeanie continued her job duties.
The Wonder Wheel
Two Views From The Top
Next… time for a swim in the Atlantic, see you tomorrow..
My daughter works on this weekend event which runs from April through November in 3 areas of New York/New Jersey. While my visit was planned to support her on a house closing last minute the seller pulled the plug and I had a plane ticket.
The Calm Before the Storm
Set Up and Vendors
So something wonderful happened instead. Jon Batiste was coming to a Smorgasburg site! Think he is the cat’s meow, as he is a wonderful humanitarian besides being a talented musician, etc.. etc.. And it was confirmed by Jon – I asked him – that yes he was the Juilliard student who came with his band several times when I was a psych nurse at the former St. Luke’s Hospital. Once you see those Jon Batiste eyes you never forget him.
DRUMROLL>>> HERE HE IS! and me too.
And Jon also likes to cook, so he brought Southern friends to distribute their garlic oysters – YUM!
He also has a new album..
And if you recall he won Album of the Year with his Album last year.. and an Oscar as well.
Attended this “farce,” at the Helen Hayes Theater on Broadway directed by Jason Alexander. When the reviews state you laugh for two hours straight they aren’t lying. What a hoot!!!!!!!!!! And by going to the box office for this unusual Monday night performance*, found a $49. ticket with no fees!!!!!!!!!
Eric McCormack, of Will and Grace royalty, stars in this comedy of infidelity and lust and is stellar as is the entire cast. The comedic timing of all was perfection with the gags and surprises along the way enlightening an already phenomenal script. The staging is simple so surely this will be on the road soon.
Hat’s off to Sandy Rustin, the writer, let’s hope she gets her pen going, and writes more frivolity.
We certainly need it!
*Broadway is lights out on Monday normally, but I checked anyway and found this jewel.
Hope you find it as well soon – we all need a good laugh.
The first owners built the home, (1816-19), to express their prestige and wealth, however, this was short lived when a fire, financial panic, and a yellow fever outbreak occurred in Savannah. 10 percent of the City’s population died with the owner loosing his wife and 2 of his 6 children. Destitute in 1822, the home was sold to a politician, and large land owner. The growth of indigo and rice continued on the property with slaves handling this work. Owners were also involved in the slave trade for income, however with the laws of 1808 and 1836, importation of slaves became more difficult, though methods were discovered to avert the law.
The Home..
The Parlor – it was here that the owners often conducted business.
The Music Room and Schoolroom where children learned.
In the basement there is much information about the inhabitants of the home, original letters from the owners as well as the slaves. Many of the letters and items written by the slaves is heart wrenching as it describes the tortures their owners dispelled upon them for no reason or minor infractions.
This home was bequeathed to the Telfair Museum in 1951, and holds much historic significance. General Lafayette stayed at the home during his farewell tour.
The Thomas-Owens House is a Savannah must see. Tours fill quickly, so make reservations.
