Having quite a snow storm this weekend but am grateful as with my 3 days off will send off my tax information, cork the bedroom, and the internet died so had a new modem and router installed.

The Spectrum guy even connected my phone for me!

Received the electric bill for the month and it was a whopping $168. Lowered the mini split to 60, and added another sweater. Also decided this was the weekend to cork the bedroom. Read that cork is an exceptional insulator and definitely not as messy to install. It is more expensive but if I was able to find a reliable contractor to do the insulation work then sheetrock it would probably be the same cost. And since I hate contractors with a passion, cork was the reliable way to go…………

Spent 10 hours in my 8 x 6 bedroom today as I am layering 3 sheets of cork for the outside walls. Cork does not adhere to cork so have to nail the 3 layers to the wall after gluing or stapling the first layer to the wall. It was more of a project than I ever anticipated but if it works my $800 investment will pay off in the next few months.

Had a particularly challenging night with one of my psych patients. She was psychotic but settled at 1 and was grateful. Every morning we serve coffee at six, and put on the news to keep the patients oriented to reality.

As I was doing my barista duty the challenging gal pal patient from the night appeared for coffee. She was served and the news began. It was describing the confirmation of robert f. kennedy, jr. Suddenly I heard my gal pal patient bellow,

“Are they fuckin nuts?”

Then another patient added, “Don’t worry, he’s a kennedy so they’ll probably kill him anyway.”

Have had some snow in Sullivan County. A teenager with a $50,000 truck knocked on my door 🚪 this morning asking if he could shovel my walk and brush off my car 🚗 for $20. Said no, as I thought that a little high. Then when I calculated the cost it was a 6 minute job so he’d be making $200/hour on a good day.

Next stop was 🧺 and Chase. Changed banks to Chase but didn’t get the $900 changeover fee as promised. Read all the fine print multiple times but manager smirked and insisted I was wrong when I asked of it. So, the only thing I got was free checking with $1000. in the account, no big deal. However, that’s how Chase continues to be a big deal.

Went to Small Claims Court next. Many states have $9000. as the top $ amount for Small Claims, but NYS only has $3000, with the boroughs of NYC having a limit of $5000. Think this needs to be revisited in NYS and 3 go to 9.

Well the court clerk said she’d been thinking of me. She told me before I applied to Small Claims to go to the building inspector. She had mentioned my case to him.

The permits are also to be posted on the property where the work is being done. So since I had no permit nothing was posted.

Well, I got a citation but no fine, however, my contractor will be contacted and unsure what will occur on that end.

And remember my Chase visit? Well while in line a young gal was speaking legalese. I asked if she was a lawyer and she said no but when asked if she knew someone who “might,” take on my case, she did.
