Arrival Ponte Delgado

Bought a potholder to figure out where I am.

Arrived at my final destination which is the island to the immediate right of the potholder. It is the largest island of the group. The airport where we first landed is the island Northwest of my current destination.

Did some exploring of Ponte Del Gado as soon as I arrived. It definitely is a seaport.

Port

Next..

What fun even though they were near closing they let me buy some 🍯. Honey tastes different in each country due to the flowers 🌺 and pollinators. Italy is my favorite but we shall see.
Didn’t realize I bought 2 enormous containers. Love to buy the foods of different countries when I visit. Upon return I savor the trip memories as I eat their delicacies.❤️

The Market – it was located inside a parking garage. How wise to place it there.

The Azores is principally an agricultural economy. They provide 30% of the milk products for Portugal. As you drive through the country side dairy cows are found on every inch of the isle. The government is now encouraging and giving subsidies for beef cows as well.

Even in town they are revered.

The driver from the airport raved of the ice cream so stopped on the waterfront for some.

Mucoa

Here’s how they make it..

They pour ice cream liquid batter on a block.
Then swirl it around scraping the liquid batter.
Final step they roll it and place the rolls in a dish then drizzle chocolate over it.
Another view of the port.

To be continued, jet ✈️ lag is sinking in..

Layover in Terceira

Arrived here after a 5 hour flight from JFK. What a beautiful flight and the pilot definitely landed on instruments as we passed through clouds similar to cotton candy.

Airport of our layover

Our plane ✈️ great flight and service friendly

As I flew dreamt through NYC memories of a great haircut in Chinatown, a quick visit with my daughter in Brooklyn, and a much needed watch repair in the Port Authority.

Only in New York!

And the topper of the visit was an hour long piano concert by a graduating Masters student in Juilliard and did I say FREE!

Soon will be replaning, (if that is such a word), for final destination Ponta Delgada.

But in the meantime am here in Tereceira.

At JFK…

and am leaving for the Azores in 30 minutes. It has been a busy 24 hours. Whew!

🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠

Yesterday the building inspector came and approved the site where I will be placing the garage… I had spent the last two days shoveling the 29 x 13 spot that was covered in snow which was topped with 1 inch of ice so my arm is talking to me.💪💪💪

Then after the building inspector left the excavator arrived. He will be preparing the site, leveling the area and placing additional gravel for the garage to sit on. While I was told this was covered with the price of the garage learned it was not.

Don’t get me going on that! 😡😡

However, was grateful to know someone reliable to do the deed. He’s coming Tuesday while I am away and making arrangements with the company for delivery.

😴0💤😴💤

So it’s been a busy 24 hours with lack of sleep. Once I did get to bed I couldn’t fall asleep with all the excitement.

I’ve received some great news as the excavator has an idea to fix the water tanks.

So am hopeful for the first time in a long time.

I eagerly await his proposal and will keep you posted.
