Heard from the realtor on Sunday that I had an offer on the condo. While it was $43,000. less* than my initial price I was grateful. The contract seemed aboveboard but waited till Tuesday to sign just in case.

Since my cabin had no internet access went to the friendly local library to complete the contract. The angst of fl life is over with an April 30th closing, my late father’s birthday.

Found a great Italian bakery across the street from the library, and celebrated with a purchase of Italian baked goods.

Later the electrician who will be doing the cabin’s overhaul appeared to pick up the down payment for the job. Noting the cabin chill he appeared an hour later with a kerosene heater!

What a jewel 💎 of guy, and the bonus is he’s a democrat!!

He is one of those older men that are going to carry Biden over the top as Joe Scarborough states.

After this the cable guy appeared, and while a bit of a curmudgeon I have internet access.

The rest of the day was spent trying to figure out how to use a drill to put up curtains, of which I was unsuccessful. Why did I ever have to take home economics in high school? What a waste!

Luckily, the previous owner left the rod hardware in place so bought cheapie rods and now have drapes covering the windows with a warmer night to come.

Also did much retail damage with Amazon. Isn’t Amazon wonderful? Today I bought everything from lamps to lampshades to reclining chairs, and all we be here in a week!

Up at 4:30 a, worrying about how I was going to get my treasures into a truck, then removed. Though I am usually not a worrier, I was with this deal. By 7 I decided to take action to allay my fears, so ventured forth to gas up Gina. However, actually the morning run was more to find a loo. Not having water means no plumbing, and while #1 can be done in a cup the other needs plumbing.

After returning from the gas station with fill up, and the other out, removed the tarps from the “treasures” then made my way to the U-Haul store.

Yesterday after making my reservation with a man whose primary language wasn’t English received a reservation stating I was renting a truck in florida?!. I quickly called 2 minutes before the store closed, and thankfully he picked up and the reservation was cancelled.. Whew!!!

I then went on line and found another U-Haul vendor actually nearer my home and made a reservation. This one was actually perfect for my needs as it was not a 15 foot truck.

While the decor of the new U-Haul shop was one from a horror show, (car repair shop) , the vendor was a young man who was a delight. With reservation completed I was promptly on my way to pack the truck.

The young U-Haul man explained the landfill process, and answered my questions on how to pack the truck. Upon departure I would pack the soft items in the front of the truck with the heavier items last.

What a job this was but it went quickly, and was remarkably easy. All that worrying for nothing.

On to the landfill..

At the landfill I was given a number then weighed, the truck load that is, and was off to remove my load.

That sounds weird doesn’t it?

Unfortunately I went the wrong direction but the other truckers flagged me down showed me the way..

At the disposal area I threw the items onto the cement floor while an enormous bull dozer shoved the items into a pile against the wall.

Quite an exciting process. Upon opening the u haul I noted one chair missing. Have no clue how that happened but later I saw it along the road so made a return trip putting the chair in Gina’s trunk.

Two trips in one day, what fun!

Mission accomplished and doesn’t my lawn look lovely?

Another busy day with a laundry list of things to do.

Met Shannon, the post office manager. Nice gal and she guided me through getting mail in the rural way. I now have another new P.O. Box and it is FREE!!!!!

Next on to trusty Walmart, and here I found some precut fabric to make valences for the kitchen door and window. And once the valences are completed will decorate the walls with the cardboard tiles I purchased in Sicily. Can’t wait to start to decorate….

After that off to Home Depot where I located a lampshade and screws for hanging a shelf. My how expensive lamp shades are! And I still am unable to locate several for the fixtures attached to the wall.

After receiving calls and emails from these folks stopped home and moved the “treasures” all to one place for easy removal to the dump. Even managed to get 2 50 year old recliners out the door. What a woman!!

From here made an impromptu stop at the building inspectors office. What a nice young man but got the word the garage is going to be a challenge. I’ll have to move an enormous rock and several trees to place the garage according to code. Yikes 😬

But the good news was he gave me the blue print for what I have to do for the renovation. First a survey, then a well, next architect, and followed by construction 🚧

And tomorrow is another day. Found uhaul has decent rates so will be using them for my trip to the landfill.

As I lie on a mattress on the floor of my great room I am pondering my next venture. Surrounded by all my 🌎 worldly possessions it is a difficult decision, and a literal mess!

While I probably should be configuring the internet I will tackle the back bedroom, and here it goes..

This was the easiest fix of all. The room has bunk beds, and I only needed to make the beds! Go figure. Also, there is a storage closet so my great room floor was transformed from.. drum roll

My next project was to handle the clothes. Fortunately, they left a dresser, and the rest went on hangers for the tiny closet. Am planning a closet for the front bedroom, but in the meantime,,,, extra storage came via these wonderful storage chests from Ross. For 8.99 they are a quite a deal. I bought 4 and some storage cubes.

In the back is a zipper, and each drawer has a cardboard base to strengthen the drawer. Also, the size is such that you can put them in your closet and still hang long garments in top of them. Here’s a pic of the drawer..

What a great way to spend Easter Sunday, and believe the Lord heard my Good Friday prayer as I received a fair offer on the condo today. Fingers crossed.🤞

Started the day in conversation with my daughter and texts from a friend, yes I have one of those. Decided to donate the beds from one room and several other things. Since there is no Donation Pickup Please, or the like in this area used Craig’s List free stuff placing items on the lawn. Also cleaned out under the cabin and found a treasure trove of 50 years of stuff/junk.

I shuttered when he relayed he was having knee surgery in the fall but lightened when he said he has a 19 year old son! Am sure he’s a strapping fella like Chris. His son was marine bound till the contract offered was for 6 years so he declined and is pondering his next step. Once again fingers crossed 🤞 this young buck doesn’t decide till post cabin winterization is completed. 🙏

Found Dollar Tree, Walmart, and ALDIs, So this is a great day. What makes it even better is that $ Tree and ALDIs are next door to each other!!!! This is a dream come true — one stop shopping. If only Ross was here I’d know I died and went to heaven!

Stayed overnight in a clean, comfortable Virginia hotel for $60 a night surrounded by other patrons who were living at the hotel. For those unaware these are mainly peeps who are living in cheapie hotels due to sad circumstances. The teeth are a give away. And at the risk of sounding pretentious or blaming will leave it at that as by now after reading me you know I am a liberal, bleeding heart. ❤️ There but for the grace of God, yes capital G,* it could be any of us.

Drove from South Carolina to the northern border of Virginia today. It was a beautiful day and made me appreciate how stunning our country is in the spring. I was particularly impressed by the wisteria hanging from the trees in the Carolinas. It must be wild much like these states.

And was able to catch up on my politics as I drove. Am missing the televised Biden, Obama, and Clinton fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall. It is predicted to raise 25 million for the campaign and the biggest fundraiser for the season. One of my daughter’s closest friends is working on this. Three months ago she worked with Gloria Steinem on something. What a lucky girl!☘️☘️☘️☘️

Now while Joe is raising money beyond all expectations the rapist is lagging behind and even had to cancel a rally last week as they were out of money.💰

Guess the farmers in the mid west are catching on and don’t want to pay for his legal bills.

My daughter turned me on to a new service called lug less. Besides stuffing the car I also sent 3 suitcases via this service. Shipping a suitcase for a paltry sum of $34.95 is an amazing deal. Just had to drop off the cases withe some paperwork to Office Depot and FedEx did the rest. They even give you email updates on the suitcase’s journey, nice touch.

After leaving R and R at Tybee Beach found myself at Leopold ice cream shop in Savannah. Since this probably was my last trek beyond the Mason Dixon line stopped and did the hour wait in line for the most delicious ice cream in the U S. Must send Joe an email and tell him to stop. Bet Jill would like it as well. 🍦🍨🍧🍦

Had a honey almond hot fudge sundae and a Savannah socialite child sized scoop. Even the wait was a delight talking to a cyber security gal from Charlotte and her hubby celebrating their 5 year anniversary in Savannah.

Woke early to the omnipresent upstairs neighbor above. Decided to begin my day as knew there would be no further rest for the weary. Moved all belongings from the storage closet and organized as according to beloved son in laws directions.

Plan was to place soft padding of quilts on the bottom of the overhead car container and then foldable small tables on top followed by an array of unboxed items to save space. Dishes, pots and pans all other items were covered with towels with my trusty Bronx wheeled car anchoring all. Is this a run on sentence or what?! More to come..

As I zipped the overhead carrier cover friendly, seasonal New York neighbors A and R returned from their daily walk and stopped by. R is an accomplished RV packer and he gave tie down advice a week ago. Since our chat have purchased $50 worth of bungee cords and tie downs. Never can have enough of these.

R. assisted with the tie down process, and verified good to go while A. picked up momentos which had fallen on the pavement. A true Monty Python skit was somewhere here.

With all departed and thank yous given returned to the condo for showering and a final check. Glad I did as left all dental paraphernalia in a kitchen drawer. Go figure. How I loved this place if only,,,but all who have read me know the deal,and it was time for new horizons. While at 67 it was meant to be my forever last home someone else had other plans for me.
