After 8 years have had enough of living the dream, and the sunshine, (more like rain 3-5 days a week), so looking forward to my return North. Kept my down coat and am now washing it and polishing my snow boots as I look forward to the cabin in the Catskills I recently purchased.

For those who question my decision read my early blogs and listen to Stephen Colbert’s monologue on the state. He is funny, but painfully honest. Am not going to trash the state as many are very happy here so will simply say, “I didn’t fit.” If you are a Northerner, and should you wish to live south recommend finding a place with many northern transplants.

As I write this I am waiting on line for the New York State Retirement System. The wait is 58 minutes and I am into 35 of those 58 minutes. While cleaning out the condo came across the estate paperwork of my mother. We never got along, and quite frankly, I think she despised me, and I understand why. My parents were to divorce, and she found herself pregnant, they stayed together, and two if not several lives were destroyed. Why am I pro-choice? Do I need to say more?

In the estate paperwork there was a letter I never read as quite frankly I didn’t want this money so most went to my daughter. She suffered greatly when I lacked funds so am grateful she can benefit.

When I needed the money I often heard, “You make your bed you lie in in,” so knew not to ask, and if I did after much contemplation, again the line. However, since I have decided to wait till 70 for social security, and don’t want to deplete reserves am exploring these 3 items I left to the wind by not reading the estate paperwork. If anything comes to pass I will use it, and consider it a gift from the grave as I know my daughter is alright.

So, let’s digress back to the 58 minute wait, and toss in the immigrant situation. Stay with me on this one.. We need immigrants to keep our country moving forward, providing the necessary services, and another bonus they add to our tax roles often starting productive and insightful businesses. They add to our country. So, as I wait now 55 minutes am hopeful that we begin to warmly accept these folks.
