Here’s more on syphilis..
Syphilis can lead to cardiovascular disease (CVD) in its late stages, a condition known as cardiovascular syphilis. This occurs when the syphilis bacteria, Treponema pallidum, infects and damages the heart and blood vessels. Specifically, it can cause inflammation of the aorta (aortitis), weakening of the aortic wall leading to aneurysms, and narrowing of the coronary arteries (coronary ostial stenosis). These complications can result in serious issues like aortic regurgitation, heart failure, and even myocardial infarction.
