Binghamton Visit

On my way to Ithaca today for a pre-birthday trip. Since I will be working on that evil day decided to travel and celebrate 🎊 early. Passed near Binghamton so decided to πŸ›‘.

Weather was foggy on this trip along Rt 17. Came across this beautiful site with fog streaking the mountains on the drive west.

Reminds me of the fog in Hawaii which laces their mountains in similar fashion.

Since I am a psychiatric nurse decided to stop at the Binghamton Asylum which is in ruins. In 1864, this became the first hospital in the world 🌎 to treat the disease of alcoholism. If only these walls could talk.

Later, it became the campus for the chronically insane. In 1993, it was closed due to structural concerns.

The Castle is the main building of the campus.

From here stopped at Binghamton University. This is the diamond in the crown of State University of New York System. Only the best and brightest are admitted.

What a beautiful campus.

What a lucky student to be accepted here!
