Mid-Terms: McConnell

Let’s pitch mitch!

The time for mc Connell has come. The sins of his past are catching up. Karma is a wonderful thing. Rick Scott, a corrupt politician who stole from Medicaid to make his wealth then never totally paid it back is in charge of the republican campaign monies. He’s managed to dwindle these monies down to 1/3 of its original amount. Then he took off for Italy.

Wonder who paid for that?

How you ever were elected governor of Florida twice, and now a senator is beyond me, but it was probably bought.

Dirty Money

Now mc connell is worried he will not regain his senate post, nor the house. He should be. We are finally getting some things done – our infrastructure, climate change initiatives, gun control, chip legislation, and better health care for our vets.

Guess Biden’s rosaries are working.

They are constantly in his pocket, and he prays them non-stop.

❤️

Let’s lead with love, not hate.

News Alert!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Alaska!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So grateful you elected a local gal who has been working for Alaskans for years, and is a coalition builder. She will be the first Alaskan native to serve in the House of Representatives and is a Democrat.

Wednesday was her 49th birthday – one she will never forget.

Good luck, Mary..

Mary Peltola

Where can I send a contribution to your next campaign?????????????????

We need more like you.

Alaska’s State Flag

The Plains High School Museum and Visitor Center

In the interest of time stopped at this site last, however, if you have the time stop here first. I languished on the farm as am more interested in a hands on experience rather than reading. Here Jimmy and Rosalynn attended school with Rosalynn being the Valedictorian of her class.

Principal’s Office

Doubt Jimmy was ever here.

Classroom and Auditorium – stay for the movie as it gives an interesting perspective and narration.

How true..

The Center gives a unique and honest perspective on the accomplishments of the Carter administration, and Rosalynn and Jimmy’s post presidential years. They certainly have much to be proud of. Take time to review the exhibit about these two fascinating people who rose from simple roots.

What a nice visit..

Georgia Visit Day 1: Flea Market and Plains Visit

Cotton fields are endless in Georgia

On my way to Plains and Warm Springs, Georgia. What a rural state Georgia is with cotton fields lining every road. Experienced fear when my gas gauge said empty, and for 30 miles there was no station on well traveled route 19, however, I made it.

Saw a sign for a flea market and took a detour. Glad I did as found many bargains with friendly vendors at Tifton Flea Market, open Saturday and Sundays.

Ample Parking, great vendor selection.

Some great prices as well. Plants were $5., a great assortment of home decor – plates to towels, fruits and vegetables, children’s toys, and the navy dress, $8, and washes like a dream. What fun!

This was a nice detour as the journey to Plains was long. Glad to see this sign.

And even more grateful to see this sign.

Plains is a beautiful small town of 700 people. To imagine Jimmy Carter’s rise from his boyhood home (next blog), to naval officer, back to the peanut farmer after his father’s passing, then school and community board service, state senator, governor, to president, could only occur in America.

Stop at the beginning of the Rosalynn Carter Butterfly Trail as you enter Plains. There is a new sculpture here given to celebrate Rosalynn’s recent birthday. Her butterfly gardens are throughout the town making it even more beautiful.

Lovely

More photos of the ButterflyTrail.

Since Plains is small many of the historic sites are within walking distance.

The main street of Plains. Here are a few shops and one where a peanut butter soft serve cone can be obtained. Yum!

Next to the shops is the railroad station which served as presidential campaign headquarters.

Can you imagine?

This was only 50 years ago.. How times have changed.

All the historic sites in Plains are open to the public. Simply walk in and take a peek..

Another historic spot – President Carter’s brother Billy’s gas station. This had an amazing amount of memorabilia. Remember Billy Beer?? What fun to revisit this time in history.

And for a laugh..

Congratulations Val and Charlie

Val Demings, who was on the short list for Joe Biden’s Vice President, is now in contention for the Florida senate seat which I believe she will win. She’s already 4 points above her opponent, a 2 term flunkie who was recently boo’ed at a campaign stop. How does Florida elect these people – he voted against the Chip legislation, against capping the cost of insulin. However, it was a wonder he even voted on these issues as he rarely shows, and has missed votes on 90% of the laws for seniors. Show Rubio the door Val..

Doesn’t he know he represents Florida!

Enough of the flunkie.. Val was 27 years on the Orlando police force, and their chief for many of those years. Born in a 2 room wooden home in Jacksonville, to a mother a maid, and father a janitor, she is a survivor with grit. Who knows where she’ll go next, and wherever that is you’ve got my vote girlfriend!

Charlie Crist is running for Florida governor, a position he formerly held. He won the primary by almost 30 points over his rival. He is abandoning his congressional seat as he feels Florida is going in the wrong direction, and I agree. Devoted to public service this man has been in almost every position possible in the state system, and currently serves in the House of Representatives for the people of Tampa.

He is pro-choice, and for all the issues that will obtain my vote, but mainly he is running to restore the decency of Florida. We have lost that with our current governor. Currently, Charlie is neck and neck with his autocrat opponent but all are underestimating the power of the female vote.

🎉Make sure you vote ladies!

Caveat: In my next blogs will write of my trip to Plains, Warm Springs, and La Grange, Georgia. What a fun trip. So many Warnock and Abrams signs – fingers crossed. Heard much NPR on the road and in particular a horrific conversation with a group from Arizona where they are encouraging a homicide conviction for women who have an abortion. And the red states that are going for this have the death penalty on their books, which means.. Have an abortion and it is the electric chair.

I know some are saying this can’t be true, but who thought after 50 years of Roe that would be overturned?. Gynecologists and obstetricians are busily closing up shop in red states for fear of what will occur. This is beyond abortion, it is women’s health care.

Electric Vehicle Rebate

Was excited about the electric vehicle rebate. Initially articles stated the Chevy Spark was in the running for the rebate, and I quickly took a test drive. Met an amazing young saleswoman who was helpful, and I liked the ride. Electric cars are quiet.

Then reading further found the Chevy Bolt was the car with a rebate, but then another article stated no.

Finally, I went to the IRS site and found these are the cars with the $7500. rebate.

According to the IRS, the models that may now qualify for a tax credit after the Inflation Reduction Act was signed on Aug. 16, 2022, include:

2022 Audi Q5 PHEV
2022 BMW 3 Series PHEV, BMW X5 PHEV
2022 Chrysler Pacifica PHEV
2022 Ford Escape PHEV, F-150 LightningMustang Mach-ETransit Van
2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEV, Wrangler 4xe PHEV
2022 Lincoln Aviator PHEV, Corsair PHEV
2022 Lucid Air
2022 Nissan Leaf
2022 Rivian R1SR1T
2022 Volvo S60 Recharge PHEV
2023 BMW 3 Series PHEV
2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS
2023 Nissan Leaf

These are all pricey, except for the Nissan Leaf which runs high 20’s to early 30’s, however if one is able to obtain this pick there would be the rebate, and trade in making the car within reach.

The rebate comes in the form of a tax credit, and after 2024 it is given in cash under agreements with the car dealership.

So, in the meantime.. am in search of a Leaf – 239 miles for recharge and 5 out of 5 overall ratings.

Love that blue color.

Used Electric Vehicles also have a rebate of $4000. Haven’t located the law regs, but stay tuned if interested.

Contributing to Elections

I am a sucker for campaign emails. Every day I get more and more from states like North Dakota, Kentucky, and Ohio, and I contribute a little to each. I do this as I know the republicans have mega donors and the Democrats lack these big pockets. We need the Democrats in office to protect our

world and democracy.

Today on NPR the writer of a book called, The Destructionists: The 25 Year Crack Up of the republican party*, was reviewed. Its author, Dana Milbrrok, is a Washington Post political columnist. In his NPR interview he discussed how the republicans played out the tragic death of Vince Foster, Newt Gingrich’s rise to power, through to the January 6th insurrection. While I want to read the book it will only anger me, and cause more sleepless nights. I have enough of these, however, I will probably read the book.

Typical Night

But, bottom line is why?? It all boils down to money. When I lived in North Carolina my elderly landlord was a 24/7 Fox watcher. She received Newt’s updates in the mail where he was crying for contributions. This money goes to his wallet, same as tr which was proven by the January 6th Committee as $250 million is unaccounted for.

Thus far $122 million in contributions has been returned by trump through court intervention.

If only all these monies given could be spent on the poor, the hungry, and those needing housing.

That is the real travesty.

Recently, after 1200 blogs decided to take a Word Press class. While this old gal didn’t understand most of it, I realized I had some comments. Thank you. I only write for myself, but nice to know one or two folks do read what I write. Hope you get a laugh or some insight.

*I never capitalize a name or identity I have no respect for. It’s not a grammar thing.

Good-bye Liz Cheney? Think Not!

Congressional Photo

Last night Liz Cheney lost her primary by double digits. Despite scouring the internet unable to locate the exact numbers, but it was big, and we knew it was coming. She is the final adversary of the fascist to go down in flames.

However, I see big things ahead with this woman should she decide to stay in public office, and big money should she take the private sector route.

Thank you, Liz for your service.

Consider becoming a democrat, and move to a blue state.

The people of Wyoming will come to see the error of their ways.

Let’s hope its not too late.

Immigrants – We Need Them

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, yearning to breathe free..

Immigrants are what make our country great. They provide diversity and inspiration. They work hard, are happy, and gleeful to be here. They have yearned to be an American all their lives, and make great citizens. And their children will outperform their parents, studying hard, and rise to heights making their parents proud.

Working in New York City for almost 10 years I can account first hand what it was to be around these folks. The years of tr with his disparaging comments made me sick to my stomach. I never understood as he was a New Yorker, and one who grew financially out of the efforts of these immigrants.

Of course there are always a few bad apples, but overall this is not the case.

It saddens me that after all these years we have no immigration reform, and what of the dreamers? According to my research the legislation passed in the House, but not the Senate, as it lacked 60 votes. Can you imagine being 40 years old, and sent back to your country of birth not even knowing the language? I am hopeful my research was wrong, but I think not.

In a recent article it stated we do not have enough population to support services in our country. Looking at all the help wanted posters, and advertisements begging for folks says it all. We desperately need people to fill these roles..

Transitioning immigrants into a work force will not be easy, but it can be done. The Irish, German, and Italians faced horrific discrimination when they arrived in the 1900’s. Can we learn from this? Can we rise above this? I think we can!

We need this influx of people to strengthen our country.

Feel free to send this to all those doubters who hate immigrants.

We need to change.

We need immigration reform.

Fox News – Why?

Our world is crazy, and listening to voices like FOX only make us crazier.

I understand why as the eye candy with the blonde hair, short skirts, and v necks are distracting. Men like to see stupid women, and viewers average age is 68, all white, and probably male though I couldn’t locate that statistic. Sex sells, especially with old men trying to recapture their youth, and Rupert Murdoch, an Aussie born Brit, and FOX owner, is responsible for this. He capitalized on this market and is laughing all the way to the bank as these crazed ideas split our country apart. I often wonder why? It is beyond money and greed, it is about destruction. He has unleashed something that will take generations to heal.

Sorry fellas, no legs or cleavage.

Fox has a near hypnotic affect on viewers, and holds the #1 spot in the news cycle. It is said they are getting bored with tr, and he hasn’t been granted an interview in well over 100 days. One wonders, what their next tact will be to keep viewers hypnotized, and foaming at the mouth to maintain ratings. Perhaps shorter skirts, deeper necklines, higher heels, and dumber women, but the key question..

How much more destruction do you wish to spawn in the United States?

Take that, Rupert Murdoch.

No wonder why Martha Stewart dumped you.
