This iconic work is on permanent display at the Brooklyn Museum. It was created by feminist artist, Judy Chicago, in the 1970’s and has traveled the world. It depicts women who have contributed through books, films, and art.
The Table
A Few of the Attendees
Saint Bridget
Saint Bridget is the patron saint of babies, midwives, children whose parents aren’t married, scholars, poets, travelers.
Sojourner Truth was an outspoken advocate for abolition, temperance, civil, and women’s rights in the nineteenth century. She was a former slave.
Susan Anthony was an American social reformer, and women’s rights activist who played a pivotal role in the women’s suffrage movement.
Virginia Woolf is considered one of the most important modernist 20th century authors.
Margaret Sanger was an American birth control advocate, sex educator, writer, and nurse.
Can you imagine the conversation which could occur at this table?
Today got an email from Jon Ossoff, one of the Georgia senators. Here’s what he said..
The Ban Congressional Stock Trading Act will require all members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children to place their stock portfolios into a blind trust — ensuring they cannot use inside information to influence their personal stock trades and make a profit.
Members who violate rules would be fined the amount of their entire Congressional salary.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
My comment: Wish they’d take their $150,000 a year pension. That would really work.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Back to Jon: A majority of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents AGREE with a Congressional stock trading ban.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Me again: No more sneaking around like that Georgia senator David Perdue, (who is now running for GA Governor),* did when the country was in crisis. While everyone else was voting he was trading stocks so he would gain more wealth. Cost him his seat, just loved those campaign ads they had against him…
Can you imagine what he’ll do to the Georgia voting laws should he get in?? Can they get any worse??
They just should have a law stating black people can’t vote, that would cover their mission.

On another note..
AL GORE
He’s still fighting for US.. Must be a great feeling to know you were right after all the crap he took from folks saying he was a nut. I always believed you Al!
Great piece on CBS Morning showing his Tennessee farm and all he is doing to save the planet. Liked his comment, and I paraphrase,
And better yet what does she stand for? She’s a flip flopper, but according to her senate.gov page..
As Arizona’s senior Senator, Kyrsten works every day to deliver for Arizona families – helping veterans get the benefits they’ve earned, creating good–paying jobs, and keeping Americans safe.
Kyrsten feels a duty to serve and give back to the country that gave her so much. She got her shot at the American dream, and she’ll keep working to make sure all Arizonans get theirs too.
In reading this find her a liar, just like the orange guy. What a hypocrite when she’s fighting against all President Joe Biden is trying to improve. This 45 year old is a lawyer, social worker, and has served AZ state senate and federally. She was elected in 2019 to the Senate and has fought against all she said she stands for. Why? No one seems to know only her re-election kitty is growing quite large from special interest folks who like what she’s endorsing by blocking climate legislation and being a pain in the ass.
Maybe those cactus got to her as she’s dam prickly and certainly not for her constituents. Photo by William Laverty on Pexels.com
She began her career with the green party – what a joke as she sure doesn’t stand with them anymore. They get a taste of that exclusive “Senate Club,” and it goes to their heads so want to stay in power and follow the money. She’s pro-gun, and voted against the $15/hour wage. With all those poor Mexicans in AZ, what a slap. Let’s hope she gets slapped out of the “Club,” and someone with scruples kicks her ass along with her partner, Manchin.
Then there’s Mark Kelly, the other dem or dumb, AZ senator who is becoming a nightmare for President Joe as well. He’s going against filibuster changes President Biden is proposing. He might as well be a republican – but he’s scared as he is the most likely to loose his seat. In reading his pleas for campaign donations Mitch is really after the former astronaut. Let’s face it what do these characters do? Stupid me contributed to his campaign last time, but no more. Fall in line Mark Kelly, your country needs you.

What’s the matter with these people? Did they forget what they signed on for? It’s all greed, narcissism, and notoriety. Who ever heard of these people before they started their uproars?? Now, they have us all hostage.
Sad to see President Biden’s Georgia trip go down in flames. That state is a mess and Biden’s visit didn’t help. People want action and are tired but given the deck Joe is handed, what can he do? Maybe a presidential executive order???
If only the dems stuck like the republicans. Guess they need a sign on pact like the republicans in order to keep them in line? Maybe Joe needs to pull back on the dough like the orange guy? However, times could be changing, and maybe we won’t have the orange guy around much longer. He’s loosing weight, and you know what that means, maybe it’s pancreatic and he’ll go fast and painfully. Like the pain he’s induced on everyone else.

Was saddened by the lack of republican support at the January 6th memorials, though not surprised. Brave individuals died protecting these politicians and to have only one sitting republican, Representative Liz Cheney of Wyoming, and her dad, former Vice President Dick Cheney attend was a disgrace. Brave police lost their lives, and those who survived are living through the terrors of that day as are their families..
While not a fan of VP Dick, I thank him for the courage to stand with his daughter and support her.
Note to dads: Support your daughters, it changes their lives. Read the research.
Daughters of all ages need their dads.
Why were the others absent?
They “claim” they needed to attend a former congressman’s funereal, but they could have sent their regards with a few members, or perhaps flowers? But it wasn’t that,
IT WAS FINANCIAL
The orange prez as RNC “head” controls the purse strings of re-election campaign funds so “they” do nothing to upset the orange man.
Another caveat.. when republicans and senators come into the fold they sign to vote with the group rather than their own minds. This is all linked to economics. Another power vs. principle concern.
And to Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, thank you for your service on the insurrection committee.
Adam enjoy your retirement. It will be short lived.
And to Liz, doubt you’ll be re-elected as most Wyoming folk love “their prez,” meaning the orange one, and “they” don’t acknowledge the true individual leading the free world, President Joseph Biden. You have taken the “higher road,” in the words of Michele Obama, and it cost in the short run, but not in the long.
Am sure there will be a very lucrative book deal in your future or maybe a change in party…
One of my favorite shows is CBS Sunday Morning, and who couldn’t love Jane Pauley?? She is the ultimate in truthful journalism. In the January 9, 2022 episode historians ranked the orange prez with one giving him a D, and another a “failure.”
These historians comments will be published shortly in The Presidency of …. :A First Historical Assessment. They stated any accomplishment by this individual will be eclipsed by his bizarre behavior which as a psych nurse I attribute to mental illness or use of drugs. There were
30,573 “untruths”
by this man beginning with inauguration crowd numbers, and continuing daily throughout his presidency.
The historians stated the judgment of this presidency will come from 2 items: his handling of the Pandemic, and the insurrection. While he got the vaccine done, the failed rollout from lies regarding scientific evidence caused hundreds of thousands of deaths.
And the second…the insurrection. He came into power with an agenda to disrupt democracy and sadly this was accomplished by aligning with racists emboldening them. Who could ever forget Charlottesville, Virginia? The big lie continues to be broadcast without any merit, and he is the only president who refused to honor democracy in the peaceful transition of power.
Which leads me to one final comment and concern. There should be financial restitution from these insurrectionists, citizens should not have to pay for their actions. These individuals have businesses and money. A surcharge by the courts is needed. Check out the equation..
40 million divided by 738 insurrectionists found= $52,400. surcharge
We could do a 10 year plan.. Doubtful the orange prez or the RNC would offer to pay, but why should we?
What a phenomenal Museum this is! And it’s free, but give a donation. Don’t forget your mask, and vaccination card..
Started on the 5th floor, here are some of the beauties located there.
The Luce American Collection
Brooklyn natives painted by Samuel Lovett, (1783-1861), with a Box Sofa from 1830.
A Pic-Nic Party, by Thomas Cole, one of the Hudson River School of Painters, 1801-1848. If you ever get the chance visit his home, what a treat.
Found this an interesting one..
All Talk and No WorkFrancis William Edwards 1805-1868
This oil on canvas depicts one white and one African American in conversation outside a barn.
They both in tattered clothing are engaged in productive talk.
Interesting dynamic for this era.
Refreshing to see.
Winter in Brooklyn by Francis Guy, 1760-1820, view from his studio on Front St., which is now the Dumbo area of Brooklyn..

The Luce’s also contributed Visible Storage – what a fascinating spot. Take some time and savor the gems in this area. It is like visiting an attic of history.
Another stop on the 5th Floor: Climate in Crisis: Environmental Change in Indigenous Americas
Some ideas on how to change..
This collection had artifacts from Indigenous Americans and mentioned how global warming will affect their ability to survive.
And one final stop on the 5th Floor.. A Tribute to one of the greatest Brooklyn natives of all.
Utopia is a play currently at the St. James Theater. On the night of my attendance half the performers and stage crew were out with covid. Because the show must go on David Byrne threw together a concert of his music. Since I know little of his music I stayed for an hour. While I appreciated the chatter and sincerity of this man, the music did not stir me, however his fans were over the moon. And for those die hard Byrne fans it’s a must see and a cheap concert of his tunes narrated by the pleasant actor/musician chap.
Liked the voter registration going on in the St. James lobby. Nice touch..
Some of the billboards outside the St. James Theater
Here’s what the show claims. It won a special Tony this year.
I never did understand why everyone was barefoot on stage. They sure must have had cold feet..
And next show…
Company
What a tour de force this play was! Stephen Sondheim who died this year at 91, shortly after his updated work was begun, must have been proud, and gleeful to have seen this before departing. The cast was superb and each song/dance routine phenomenal. The story follows a NYC single gals 35th birthday party with her married friends encouraging her to get hitched. What fun!
This is a certain Tony winner. It was sublime and A MUST SEE. Prices are good with box office tickets on the day of the performance starting at $43., what a steal. After loosing $500 on stinkers like Diana, Utopia, and Freestyle Love Supreme, maybe my loosing streak has ended!
Today heard of the resignation of Devin Nunes from California. He will be in charge of the orange prez media company. A loyal follower it is good to be rid of him, and he will have his $150,000. a year pension with full health care benefits to sustain him, just in case this media company goes belly up.
Caveat: Any media company needs FCC*, approval to operate, and we definitely need compliance especially when the owner has been removed from every communication platform available.
Good luck Devin Nunes, and don’t let the door hit you in the ass as you depart, so glad to be rid of you.. One down, more to go…
I can hear the cheers from California now..

Tomorrow, as with every weekend, we will be on commercial break, and discuss what a 65 year old does, no thinking allowed. Stay tuned.
One year ago today our country went through enormous trauma brought on by a fascist president. Our forefathers predicted this to occur, and despite the constitutional safety nets, it occurred. The saddest thing regarding this day is that many Americans still believe a lie promoted by this fascist and his scoundrels.
FACISM – FAR RIGHT DICTATORIAL POWER FORCING SUPPRESSION OF OTHERS
When in DC during the election we were in a hotel where the Proud Boys also stayed. These individuals were ignorant, class less, smoking marijuana throughout the hotel, and in over hearing conversations, (you couldn’t miss them they were so loud and unruly), they worked at minimum wage jobs. We were in a quandary how these folks could afford to fly from all over the country, stay at a “nice” hotel, order food., and drink galore, and party. We wondered, “Who is funding these individuals, and WHY?”
The repair to the Capitol from January 6th insurrection cost tax payers $40 million, however, this does not factor in the physical and emotional toll the brave Capitol Police who bore on this day much calamity, which they continue to bear. To hear of legislators who actually planned this event during secret meetings is despicable.
And the Capitol Police protected them.
The republicans involved in these plans:
Jim Jordan of Ohio
Scott Perry of Pennsylvania
Louie Gohmert of Texas
Bennie Thompson of Mississippi
Paul Gozart of Arizona
Lauren Boebert of Colorado
Mo Greene of Alabama
Andy Biggs of Arizona
Madison Cawthron of North Carolina
Marjorie Greene of Georgia
Not only should these individuals be stripped of their positions, they should also loose their $150,000. a year pension which each congressman or senator receives whether they serve one day, or 50 years….. Don’t get me going on that one.
Let’s hope those investigating the insurrection are able to ascertain who is funding these groups and bring them to justice, and better yet have them pay the $40 million.
