Political Donations: Wins and Loses

While not a betting woman have enjoyed monitoring this race. At times have been concerned, but overall this last election has regained my trust in the American people, and their desire to maintain democracy, or else they want to maintain

social security.

That said here is this retiree’s scorecard. Wanted to see the results of my $3, $5, and sometimes larger campaign donations. Am impressed with the outcomes, and since I always want the bad news first will report losers then build the crescendo to the winners. Blog is being written 11/9 at 9:35 a.m.

Florida – Charlie Crist – governor race, loss by 20%, Love you Charlie, think you should be one of sexiest guys alive but while brilliant think you need to move North where you will be better appreciated. I’d even buy you a down jacket. Thanks for trying.

Val Demings – another Florida leader who actually comes to work and votes in favor of Floridians. How Floridians kicked her in the ass with this loss is beyond me. She also has much to offer and let’s hope Biden finds her a cabinet or ambassador position. Loss about 20%.

Al Lawson – another 20% loss in Florida – was he a redistricting casualty?

Virginia – Elaine Luria – she knew it was over but appreciated her work in the Jan 6th Committee. Thanks for your service. Maybe Joe can do something for her as well. She’s nearby in VA., and we need youthful leaders with fresh ideas, of which she has both.

Texas – Beto – I love you. Think you need to get a real job or move out of Texas. They’ll never appreciate you there. You certainly have the right skills.

Kentucky – Booker – even had your bumper sticker on my car – a scary thought in red florida, but someone promptly pulled it off. Better days are ahead for you, young man. I foresee them coming.

Georgia – Marcel Flowers – to come up against a blonde bad ass idiot with big boobs and a gun in Georgia? Your attempts were valiant. Thanks…

Jen Jordan – thought for sure you’d win with the blonde hair, but guess you were too smart for a woman in Georgia. Maybe you needed a gun and to show some breasts, but know you are a lady and would never go that low. We need you as a commentator for Georgia politics – CBS look into this.

Minnesota – Jeff Ettinger – wrote many postcards in an attempts to get you elected. There is a future for you. Continue your good works and philanthropy. It will pay off if you try again in politics. And if you do I have a future son in law who could help.

New York – Letitia James – Attorney General 54% on 11/9 at 1:39 a.m. You go girl! Just shows how much New Yorker’s hate the orange prez, and the rest of the country is catching on. Keep digging for more dirt…

Colorado – Adam Frisch – not called yet but will list him in this category. 11/9 51.3% with 78% of the votes counted. Great job. Loved your emails. Thanks, Colorado. So sick of Lauren Boebert, it’s tiresome. Holding a gun and preaching the Bible – really?

Illinois – Sean Carstens – love those Irishmen

California – Adam Schiff – was there ever a doubt he’d be re-elected?

North Carolina- Willie Nikels – Great job, man! Know you’ll make us proud.

Michigan – Elissa Slotkin – Congratulations!

Pennsylvania – John Fetterman – when Nora O’Donnell called it at 1:30 a.m. I cried tears of joy. You deserve it John, and will do an amazing job for the folks of Pennsylvania. So grateful… Make us proud and know you will.

Pending……………

Georgia – looks like another election in December – more post cards to write for Warnock

Arizona – could it be anyone other than Hobbs? If it is all will be sorry, however the former fox commentator will take the VP slot if orangie runs. she is power hungry and dangerous. Glad she’s not a blonde or has big boobs..

Kelly – still in the running.

Wisconsin – Mandela Barnes still possible. Please…

Nevada – Mastro – time will tell.. Latinos are insane if they didn’t vote for her.

Overall, it was a good night for America. Democracy has prevailed.

Another Election Cycle Completed: 2022

At the end of today we as Americans will at least know this. The election deniers will begin their antics, noise will be made, and recounts begun if they do not win. This has been foretold. Perhaps by end of year we will know more, but perhaps not. When I lived in Maine this process went on, and recall it seeped into the winner’s term. This hindered the “winner’s” ability to begin the duties of the position.

Whatever the outcome we are assured chaos, and if violent some will be injured or die, however, the cycle is over and a new day begun. Let us hope for a peaceful transition of power after this long battle with our country moving forward with these new leaders.

Predictions..

The Crystal Ball tells all…

Writing this blog prematurely as poll working on the 8th from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. with 2300 voters expected at the site.

This election season has been a wild ride, however, this phenomenon is not new. Since Biden proclaimed democracy is at risk I have noted a greater concern from Americans I meet and greet in random conversations throughout the day.

It’s amazing what people reveal over a selection of a can of soup at the grocery store.

If they only paid as much attention to candidate selection…

While the polls have their place they are “off,” as many respondents lie, or simply don’t answer the phone to pollsters.

Where they get these numbers is a mystery to me.

And while predictions can be accurate, ultimately this is in the voter’s hands, and we will not know till the last ballot is counted.

However, I firmly believe in the long run democracy will prevail, even if it is a tight squeeze..

Christmas Decorations

Today I am taking a break from politics, am cleaning the house, and decorating. Being away from the condo the last 2 years have not decorated and while not a holiday buff I like to decorate. Am grateful to have this time, and even more grateful to have received a $90. bill for a $25,000. hospital stay. Only in American. Thanks, Medicare and Humana.

Will take a break from emails, texts, and maybe the news, however the last is doubtful. Receiving as many as 60 text and email pleas from across the country for campaign contributions is concerning. And while I give minimal to each it does add up, however, what cost for democracy.

The latest news has shown we will continue our roller coaster ride with its many ups, downs and twirls:

  • Oprah endorsed Fetterman
  • Lady La La must testify in Georgia
  • Prince Harry’s new book about the royals
  • the orange prez will announce after mid-terms
  • iran is supplying weapons to russia
  • Ukraine persists
  • Drought in California
  • Climate Change Concerns
  • Musk owns Twitter – hold on to your hat..

However on the bright side, Powerball is at $1.6 billion – buy your ticket tonight!

The Final Stretch..

🏇Working12 hours as a poll worker I observed citizens hug their red and blue cheat sheets while assisting in ballot processing. These sheets are from their parties and tell them which candidates and amendments to vote for. Thoughts of horse racing are triggered in my observations, however, the stakes are higher than any daily double.🏇

This has been a fascinating experience and I encourage any election denier to work the polls. Perhaps this should be a sentence for those making these accusations. Viewing the scrutiny of the process with its many checks and balances gives credence to the process.

In America we are fortunate that the process does hum.

There have been few inappropriate t-shirts, baseball hats, and questionable jokes, however, some will always be suspicious despite factual answers. Maintaining a “Switzerland,” face discourages engagement. At the sites we have had as many as 900 voters daily. This is in a county of 265,000.

The most popular question, and this occurred only 5 times in 8 days working –

“What company made this voting machine?”

It was wonderful to see Americans come together cooperatively.

We need more of this.

Good Fight: 1 More Episode

Have always loved Christine Baranski since first seeing her in The Bird Cage. As Diane Lockhart in The Good Fight she has portrayed a brilliant, fiesty, Democratic lawyer for over 10 seasons. In the next to last episode of the show’s final season a billionaire is “buying” the Democratic party, and placing Diane as Chairman of the Democratic party with “The Rock,” as their Presidential Candidate.

Sound crazy?

You never know.

Whatever works.

Mid-Terms: 6 Days Away

Do you feel like this kid? Is the hand a help or hinderance?

When Joe Biden said Democracy is on the ballot he got it right. Wish I could come up with something funny like Stephen Colbert, and his writers, but while I lack his talent am eternally grateful for his wit. He keeps it in perspective.

Every night his monologue empties the angst. Thanks, Stephen.

We are in serious trouble if more clowns get in power. The Maddow Ultra Podcast describes a similar incident which happened in the 1940’s when our legislators were infiltrated by Nazi spies sending citizens propaganda using our tax money to do it. Good people came forward, the system worked and we survived, so have faith we will again.

While I believe we will survive living through the process will continue to be a nightmare. When Clinton was in office I recall him contacting the news outlets as people were becoming terrified over the reporting of tsunamis. Maybe we should do the same with the political tsunamis, however, I think we need to be aware of every legislator’s actions.

We need to know what these people in power are doing, and keep them accountable.

Please don’t destroy Social Security. I thought I already paid for it???

XXXXX

Something else.. make campaign season only 3 months, and do this process a different way. Have town halls with the candidates stating what they plan to do, or have done. Cap the spending on campaigns, repub have spent $770 million as of several weeks ago – oh, what this money could be better spent on.

Have these folks out with their peeps – face us. Isn’t that how the orange prez got his power – take a lesson if anything from this. And while I am a devout Democrat I have even gotten, (in error), emails from the florida senators. While this reinforced they are against everything I stand for I read it.

We need to be informed on what these players are up to.

and

We need a winning season where we all come together.

Iranian Women: Enough!

The 40 day mourning period for Masha Amini, the 22 year old beaten to death by police for not wearing a hijab appropriately, has ended. However, the women of Iran persist in their actions, and are bringing the men along in this fight. As one commentator stated, “the women of Iran are the heartbeat,” and have galvanized their anti-regime movement. To date 300 have died along with 29 children in the last 5 weeks.

Support from the rest of the world has been welcomed by this group, even including the U.S.sanctions against Iranian officials. Women believe, this revolution will occur without war or military intervention. And since Iran’s only ally, russia, is already involved in a loosing war it is doubtful any assist would be offered from putin or elsewhere.

There is a 98% literacy rate among Iranian women, and in many cases women are better educated than their male counterparts. They have and continue to hold positions of power within the government, and firmly believe now is the time for revolution.

And all this occurred because of a scarf.

Next Step: Banning School Newspapers

After writing the book ban blog NPR had an interesting expose on a Nebraska High School which closed its student newspaper after the board became aware that an issue with information on LGBTQ was to be published. The Viking Saga is no longer after winning 3rd in the State as school newspaper.

Because of a 1988 Supreme Court decision schools can censure.

Sad, as ignorance only breeds hate.
