NYC Plays Tips

Been taking in much NYC culture during this time. Here’s some pointers:

  • Get your ticket from the box office. It’s the cheapest route to get tickets.
  • Once in line, have your vaccination card and photo id ready for inspection. It will expedite entry.
  • Dress warm as theaters are cold. Layers.
  • Arrive a half hour before the performance.
  • Leave before the curtain falls, or stay seated till the bulk of the patrons have left. I’ve taken a number of falls, and patrons don’t always watch their kids who can knock down seniors.
  • Hold on to the hand rails at all times.
  • Go to the bathroom before the performance, or immediately after. Intermission is a nightmare.
  • Bring 2 masks. Stay apart as much as possible.
  • Millennials do not converse, don’t waste your breath in trying.
  • If seated near someone from across the pond, be friendly. They love to gab and learn of the US, and NYC sites.
  • Before you leave check out the area around your seat to ensure you have all your belongings.

Never Underestimate American Ingenuity

Came across an interesting article which I wish to share.

https://www.wired.com/story/north-korea-hacker-internet-outage/?utm_source=pocket-newtab

Essentially, an American was hacked by North Koreans, (actually Chinese), and fought back taking down their internet.

Hats off to P4X.

As a nurse people share their secrets with me be it on a plane, or in a short street conversation. Ran into a man who during the Obama years said no one will ever know how close we were to a war with North Korea. He was on the negotiating team. Glad to see efforts are continuing to keep them in check if only through back door channels.

Stay warm everyone.

NYC Subway and Train Etiquette

Been awhile since my NYC subway and train travel. Had to update my skills with the Pandemic still looming. Here’s some things to consider should you visit during this time.

  • Download the AP MY MTA. It’s amazing.
  • Wear black.
  • Buy Canada Goose outerwear, it’s the one with the red patch.
  • On the subway close your eyes, don’t talk.
  • Stay 6 feet apart.
  • Wear a mask at all times or a $100 ticket is waiting.
  • If you take the elevator to reach another level, face outward toward the wall.
  • Do not talk to children, or touch them.
  • Do not talk to dogs, or touch them.
  • Keep your Metro card loaded.
  • Should a pan handler come through the train keep eyes closed. Pretend you are asleep.
  • Do not converse or attempt to make conversation with other passengers.
  • If you are unsure if you are on the right train make that known as soon as you enter the car, passengers will yell out instructions or answers.
  • Do not eat on the train or bus.
  • Do not make conversation with others on the train or bus.
  • Paper maps are available at the train or bus information booth.
  • Enjoy the ride.

Police Officer Mora Laid to Rest…………………..Caveman Capitol Attacker

Was in the City today and picked up a copy of the free newspaper, AM Metro New York. A beautiful tribute to Officer Wilbert Mora appeared in the newspaper. Besides giving his life, this son of Dominican immigrants also donated his organs. Five individuals benefited from this donation.

What a valiant, courageous, young man, and such a tragic loss.

After reading of this Officer Mora, came across an article about this man. I hate to even place his name in the same blog as Officer Mora.

Aaron Mostofsky, was one of the insurrectionists. He is the son of an elected Supreme Court Judge whose term, according to Ballotpedia, ends January 1, 2034. Dressing as a caveman he stole a Capitol Police Officer’s shield, and bullet proof vest. There are pictures of him smashing Capitol building windows. He also pursued a Capitol Police Officer to the second floor. He faces $250,000., in fines, and 5 years in federal prison. Hopefully, he will get the max on both sentences, and at 35 he is sunk, but have no sympathy..

Newt Gingrich stated the members of the House Insurrection Committee need to be prosecuted, and past prez orange man stated in Florida this week if re-elected he will exonerate all those who participated in the insurrection.

This goes beyond words, it is insanity. The wrong individual died.

Let’s end on a lighter note, some Chinese Lunar New Year decorations.

Dior Exhibit – Part II

The Dior Exhibit is vast – take time to visit the many videos and displays. Plan on a two hour stay. It is a wonderful trip down memory lane taking in the Dior commercials, magazine covers, and the most fascinating, the atelier exhibit. Here the private workshop of those who create the fashion are displayed.

The Wall of White – how each creation begins

Another fascinating venue: The making of a Dior watch..

When Christian Dior passed he wished the fashion house be passed to Yves Saint Laurent. Management was skeptical about this 21 year old, however, the succession was past when the 1958 Laurent spring collection was revealed. Here’s some of Yves creations..

Next: Marc Bohan 1961-1989 He had the slim look, inspired by flappers of the roaring 20’s which captured Elizabeth Taylor’s interest purchasing 12 dresses. Youthful style of swinging London was his trademark.

Gianfranco Ferre 1989-1996 An Italian designer, he was the mover behind the haute couture revival of the 1990’s. A fan of lavish ornamentation, his work:

John Gallano 1997-2011 A British designer his appointment shocked the industry. According to the exhibit signage he merged the industry with imagination and respect for tradition..

Raf Simons 2012-2015 Of Belgian descent this designer was known for minimalism, and was a romantic. He stated, “I don’t have any stories of the day or concepts to propose. I believe in a modern-day aesthetic. Women are no longer interested in clothes that don’t let them move.”

Some of his clothing available on the web.

The most current House of Dior designer is Maria Grazia Chiuri (2016-present). She is an Italian designer and a feminist, stating, “We should all be feminists.” Go, Maria!

Let’s end with a quote from a man who began it all.

Brooklyn Museum – The Dior Exhibit

Behind this display was a film of Dior’s American visits and throughout the exhibit paintings of Paris and works by French artists were displayed.

Early Dior
The fitted waist – a Dior trademark

What an extraordinary exhibit this was. It continues through February 2022. It is transforming.

Let’s start with a bit about the man.

Christian Dior

Christian Dior loved art and design, however, a career in this field was blocked by his family. After World War II this changed, and by the late 1940’s and 1950’s he became known as one of the most influential fashion designers of his time. While his career began in Paris his designs were quickly received by American women. He loved America and had many trips across the pond to promote his lines. Besides fashion he also designed perfume, jewelry, and cosmetics. Sadly he passed in 1957 at 52 years of age, however, Dior remains one of the world’s most influential and well respected fashion houses.

An avid gardener, his inspiration often came from flowers. Some examples..

Dior couture is often worn and photographed by the famous.

Marilyn

Dior loved to design evening gowns as he felt evening was an escape from life. This continues with the current Dior designers.

Tucker Carlson: A Traitor in Our Midst

Photo by Mateusz Dach on Pexels.com

Of course we knew this, but did you know his broadcast is being played nightly on Russian television? Perhaps he should visit Putin along with the republicans backing the Russian demands. Do your own homework on that one. Disgusting. Maybe they all could stay in Russia like Edward Snowden. Only catch, don’t think Edward is real happy over there.

OR COUNTER PROPOSAL

Biden invite Carlson to lunch at the White House along with “those republicans,” and their credibility with Putin will be destroyed. They’ll never be seen on Russian television again, and their ratings will lower, and isn’t that what this is all about?

Play hardball Mr. President.

Caveat: What a difference 12 hours makes. Thanks to all the efforts of courageous diplomats, and President Biden’s steady hand. Guess Biden should have threatened freezing Putin’s assets earlier…

Three Highlights For Today

  • Federal Prosecutors looking at 2020 fake election certifications.
  • Radio signal coming from space every 18 minutes, ? dying star..
  • Omicron is 99.9% of all covid infections.

XXX

One final note… Was in New York City yesterday near St. Patrick’s Cathedral watching the sea of blue in their dress uniforms and white gloves. The first of two wakes were being held for the fallen officers lost in a domestic argument by a mentally ill man with a gun last week.

Say a prayer for the families of Officers Jason Rivera and Wilbert Mora

Good Bye Stephen Breyer, Happy Retirement

Stephen Breyer - Wikipedia

Today President Biden got thrown a life line with the retirement of 83 year old Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer. He is hanging up his skates the end of the summer and moving on. Am grateful he is departing before the Senate potentially changes, however, with the idiots of WV and AZ, one wonders what could potentially occur.

Some of his stats:

  • second longest serving associate justice at 27 years.
  • Stanford educated, Harvard Law
  • considered the liberal wing of the Court
  • amiable, upbeat, and pleasant
  • good Stephen Colbert guest
  • recently wrote The Authority of the Court and the Peril of Politics

President Biden has vowed to appoint a black female to the bench, and Chuck Schumer has stated this will be done in record speed. Let’s hope so……

Three Highlights for Today

  • The world walks on needles and pins as Putin plans his attack. The EU is sending support to Ukraine, and the World Bank is considering shutting off Russia – PLEASE do so..
  • A winter snow blast is due this weekend in the Northeast
  • Federal Reserve to raise interest rates

Putin – Take him out

And I don’t mean dinner..

Come on Vlad, we’re in the third year of a Pandemic and you are threatening World War III

Get real, stop the antics. Enough is enough.

What I don’t understand is why you are fighting over a piece of land when you could have it all if you let Russia become a democracy. You’d have more power and wealth beyond your wildest dreams. You’d be able to upgrade the 1.4 billion Black Sea Castle to 5 or maybe have a couple?? If you played your cards right, one in Florida. And in Florida they don’t care if you had a girl in every room regardless of their age….

Thanks, Carl Bildt from Twitter..

So, give the world a break and lay off! OR maybe you’d prefer a spanking..

Child Psychology.

Three Highlights For Today

  • Blinken looking over Russia’s counter offer to stop their aggression. Oh, Antony let’s hope you can pull this off. Am praying as we all need to be.
  • 12/16/2020 draft memo from our former oligarch prez reveals he was planning to have the military seize voting machines.
  • Omicron has peaked in the US.
